Today Dr. Warson is based in Fairfax, Virginia, where he serves as a consultant for Rider Health and Safety with the Western Dressage Association of America.
From a Surgical Maestro to Equestrian Expertise
Dr. James Warson’s remarkable journey began in 1974 as a neurosurgeon in Lexington, Kentucky, where he fine-tuned his skills. In 1978, he made his mark in Fort Collins, Colorado, founding Front Range Brain and Spine Surgery. With over 6,000 spine surgeries under his belt, Dr. Warson became a luminary in the field, specializing in ailments that afflict equestrians due to or exacerbated by their passion for riding.
In 1984, Dr. Warson established J & J Farms, where he bred, trained, exhibited, and sold multiple Grand National and World Champion Morgan horses. Today Dr. Warson is based in Fairfax, Virginia, where he serves as a consultant for Rider Health and Safety with the Western Dressage Association of America. He consults with the US Para-Equestrian Association, NCAA, and American Morgan Horse Association, and is a life-certified horse appraiser. Dr. Warson is a diplomate of the board of Neurological Surgery and a retired Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Comanche Nation and speaks NɄMɄ TEKWAPɄ.
